Acorn Health’s Apprentice Program Supports Individuals Pursuing BCBA Certification

At Acorn Health, one of the ways we live one of our core values of growth is by supporting our employees in working toward furthering their career in behavior analysis.

Acorn Health has recently formalized the process of accruing supervised fieldwork for those seeking board certification. Accruing supervised fieldwork is a requirement of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board that ensures all future BCBAs and BCaBAs have demonstrated the necessary skills to positively impact client outcomes.

Our Apprentice Program, of which more than 150 of our direct care staff are currently enrolled, provides a behavior analytic curriculum and includes a mentorship program that provides those seeking board certification with opportunities to build their behavior analytic skill set and develop skills to directly and positively impact the quality of clinical care.

“The whole goal is that we pour into people who can make a difference in the lives of families, and possibly select Acorn Health as a place to work and grow in their field,” said National Director of Clinical Training and Development Claire Ellis.

Apprentices have the opportunity to participate in weekly workshops, complete hands-on portfolio projects and access several additional resources to acquire important skills and structure their experience. The workshops and portfolio projects expose the apprentice to important topics and experiences that will prepare them to create behavior programming and behavioral support for their current and future clients. The individuals who complete the Apprentice Program can feel confident that they have the skills needed to be successful and impactful clinicians in the field.

Throughout the program, we ensure competency of the apprentices by assessing skill sets surrounding:

  • Documentation & Clinical Compliance
  • Technical Skills
  • Professional & Ethical Behavior
  • Clinical Implementation

We know firsthand that when our employees are provided quality education and training, they provide the best service and support to our clients & their families. We feel strongly that finding ways to contribute to producing quality providers not only improves the clinical outcomes at Acorn Health, but also creates clinicians who will make a lasting impact in the field of behavior analysis.
