Celebrating 2022 — Acorn Health’s Year in Review

Over the last four years, Acorn Health has been focused on helping children with autism live more meaningful lives and achieve their greatest potential. We are proud to offer hope to families when they are seeking solutions to help their children with autism, and in 2022, we’ve grown exponentially — making it possible to help more families than ever before. Acorn Health is growing in many ways, specifically by expanding our geographic footprint and also by hiring and nurturing our passionate team members.

With more than 1 in 44 children being diagnosed with autism every year according to the CDC, families can feel hopeful and at peace knowing that ABA therapy offered at Acorn Health can provide necessary support and tools to help their children — and they are not alone. They can rest assured knowing that Acorn Health has the experience of helping hundreds of families along their ABA therapy journey every year.

Acorn Health is passionate about helping families, and measuring the success and progress of its learners. Specifically, we have developed a proprietary tool, the Behavioral Health Index (BHI), which tracks progress over time and helps our BCBAs shape treatment plans tailored to each child’s unique needs and goals. We are proud to share that in 2022 we achieved a 98% collection rate, or the percentage of clients who completed the BHI.

Acorn Health Expands Its Footprint

As we look ahead into 2023 and reflect back on the last year, it’s quite remarkable that there are now more than 75 Acorn Health locations serving families across the country. As we’ve kept growth as a goal for Acorn Health, we’ve done so by strategically acquiring practices as well as building new ones.

In 2022 we announced new facility openings in four states, including:

  • In PA – Allentown and Langhorne
  • In TN – Clarksville, Hendersonville, Chattanooga, Knoxville
  • In MD – Owings Mills and North Baltimore
  • In FL – Tampa and Miramar

This year, we announced these acquisitions, providing more accessible care for families in Florida and Virginia:

  • Lakeland, FL (from Trek behavioral Health)
  • Winter Garden, FL (from Lucent Development and Behavior Solutions)
  • Orlando-Downtown, Longwood, Riverview, East Orange, Championsgate, and Kissimmee, FL, as well as Stafford VA (from Breakthrough Behavior)

Acorn Health Adds Hundreds of New Employees in 2022

With more than 1,500 Acorn Health employees across 27 states, we are proud that so many talented and dedicated individuals have joined our team. We are continually seeking ways to offer our team members an optimal professional experience, and recently enhanced our benefits offering. In 2023, Acorn Health employees will be eligible for paid parental leave (6 weeks for parents adding children through birth or adoption) as well as medical travel reimbursement. This benefit provides financial support for our employees or their family members who need medical care outside of where they live, and we prioritize their privacy whenever this benefit is utilized.

Our clinicians are now offered direct incentive programs, as well as a new Action Allies program focused on ongoing clinical training and development. This year we added Employee Experience Awards recognizing our exceptional team members that demonstrate our core values of authenticity, accountability, teamwork, growth, and hustle.

Another way that Acorn Health provides an exceptional professional experience for its employees is its Apprentice Program, launched in 2022. Currently there are more than 150 of our direct care staff enrolled. The curriculum includes a mentorship program, weekly workshops, opportunities to complete hands-on portfolio projects and training to acquire important skills and structure their experience.

As we reflect on the numbers that depict our accomplishments this year, we are reminded that helping each and every child is the ultimate privilege. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy new year.
